Introducing the Karoq..
ŠKODA’s all new compact SUV has been called the Karoq. It’s a completely new compact SUV and has it’s world premiere in Stockholm on May 18th, followed by a launch scheduled for the second half of 2017. Karoq is offered with a choice of five engines – two petrol and three diesels with a range of 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 litres – more information coming closer to the launch.
The Karoq has already been public knowledge for less than a week! It’s name and spelling comes from the Alutiiq tribe – inhabitants of a Southern Alaskan island who actually inspired the name for the Kodiaq.
“The ŠKODA Karoq is a completely newly-designed SUV that sets new benchmarks for our brand and its segment in every way. With this new SUV, we are taking the next logical step in our SUV strategy” – ŠKODA CEO Bernhard Maier.
In the language of the Alutiiq tribe car is ‘Kaa’ and ‘Ruq’ means arrow – the central symbol on the ŠKODA logo.
“SKODA’s new Karoq has the potential to set a new benchmark for the compact SUV segment” – Top Gear magazine.
“It’s a shame the Yeti is going – the good news is it’s replacement is just as easy to use and much more modern both inside and out” – Adam Binnie in CAR magazine
