Trains, Bikes and Automobiles

Meet Jonathan Lunt.

Jonathan collected his first ŠKODA Fabia Estate from our Sales Manager Howard over the weekend! This has added to the VW Up and ŠKODA Citigo that he already has. He says he“absolutely loves them”.

Buying a car from Great Yarmouth but living around 200 miles away? – This actually isn’t an unusual thing for us to have here at Simpsons as people travel from miles away to purchase from us!

Now, as you may of gathered by the first image, Jonathan didn’t take the easy route on collecting his new car, he cycled. Yes, cycled – All the way from Ely!! – He actually cycled through some other places along the way and covered around 100 miles that day just to get to us.

Jonathan actually lives down in Brighton and being and IT Director for a big Swiss bank in London, having to get the train can be a little bit of a nightmare due to the strikes and just the amount of issues they can have! (as we all know). Due to this problem he has found it better to drive half way to London and then cycle the rest of the way – which is about 45 miles a day!! He does this most days and totals around 280 miles per week!

He started his journey in Haywards Heath and cycled to Gatwick Airport Station.

From Gatwick he continued on the train to Victoria Station. He then continued to cycle around 4 miles to Kings Cross Station with a little pit stop at Buckingham Palace along the way. He then got on a train to journey from Kings Cross Station to Ely.

After arriving in Ely he then set off for the 81 mile bicycle journey to us here in Great Yarmouth! Once arriving here he had a little stop at our Pier and saw the donkeys (pictured below).

He has told us that he “enjoyed his day, the cycling was superb and your service was excellent” and ” may do it all over again”

Jonathan thinks that “It’s amazing how a decent sized bike can fit in the back of a Fabia Estate” (pictured below) He mentions that ŠKODA should “make a bigger deal on the space that smaller cars have in them”.

Some of you may of read this article and thought oh my god, is he crazy?!!, but Jonathan actually used to live in Chicago and the easiest way to commute was in fact by bicycle!

We would like to wish Jonathan Lunt all the best with his Fabia and for the business. Would also like to thank him for providing these wonderful images to be used in our article. We may even see him again at some point in the future!
